In 2007 our special investigators received more than 4,400 instructions from over 60 different clients. Approximately 70% of these instructions resulted from referrals from our adjusters and incident managers, all of whom receive regular training in how to spot fraud and what to do when they have concerns about a claim. The remaining 30% came direct from our clients who instruct us to investigate when they themselves have concerns.
We increased our involvement with large and complex losses, and have investigated over 500 claims with a claim value of £20,000 or more. Nine of these claims were in excess of £1 million in value and one was for £14 million. Within our field force of investigators we have twelve staff who have additional skills in commercial insurance investigation. They work closely with our specialist adjusting network on large and complex losses.
