Medical Affairs

Our Medical Affairs department is a specialised unit, active in the field of medical advice, related to the settling of claims. Because of the diverse character of the subjects and the intra-active approach to claims, our methods differ from the "oldfashioned model" of medical advice.

Our specialists have become an intrinsic part of the adjusting process and not only co-operate closely with the various other departments of Cunningham Lindsey Nederland, but also directly with insurers.

Combining a number of medical specialists in-house with a number of specialists via a managed network, the unit has the characteristics of a knowledge network with the following structure:

Internal network
This comprises the Medical Affairs specialists who are employed by Cunningham Lindsey. This group advises at the level of specific files. They also perform medical examinations, even at location of the claimant should this be necessary. These examinations may have the characteristics of a specialist expert examination, but could also be a status check via consultation of the general practitioner. The latter can be replaced by direct examination of the injured claimant which enhances quality and speed.

Due to the location of our offices (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Zwolle and Eindhoven) and the availibility of medical equipment, we are able to cover the country.

Our activities are mainly related to Motorist Liability, Medical malpractise, Disablement policies, Casualty and Occupational diseases. The internal network comprises enough specialisations to manage the external network. We also are sometimes insourced by our principals.

Network of consultants
Next to our internal network, we have a network of consultants, consisting of a number of well-known and highly respected medical specialists from first class hospitals, who advise our own specialists in complicated issues. These advisors have an exclusive contract with us. This enables us to guarantee a high quality state-of-the-art advice in any field of medical expertise.

External network
For an optimal service level and flexibility, we have contracts with about 400 other specialists, who guarantee us an expert report within 3 to 5 weeks. Especially for examinations in relation to disablement policies, this leads to considerable savings in time and cost for our principals. This network is known as our external network. An in-house co-ordinator manages the network and supervises the quality of the end product.

Co-operation with claimants' representatives
It goes without saying that we also provide expert advice in consultation with legal councils of claimants. Here also, we have launched innovative initiatives for example joint examination with the medical advisor of the claimant. We thereby avoid lengthy exchanges of information and points of view which enhances the speed of the total process.

Medical reports
Our medical reports are based on independent research. The reports are part of the medical file, which is treated in total confidentiality. Cunningham Lindsey Nederland is a subscriber to the Dutch Institute for Insurance Complaints.
