Cunningham Lindsey responds to Poland floods

27 May 10

Heavy rains, which started at the beginning of May within Southern Poland, has caused damage estimated at more than $2.5 billion over the last week.

Those areas that have been most effected are the cities situated near Vistula and Oder rivers including Cracow, Wroclaw, Opole and Warsaw. Sadly smaller villages situated in the mountains have also experienced problems with high water from small streams.

We have deployed ten expert adjusters to the Cracow area to assist with any potential loss inspections received by our office in Warsaw.

Our Poland country manager, Pawel Kaminski is currently based in Cracow and who is coordinating the work to cities including Katowice, Bochnia, Tarnow, Brzesko, Tychy, Bielsko Biala, has reported that the number of notified losses is enormous. One of Poland's biggest insurer PZU SA has received 22,000 flood losses last week and in certain factories, the level of flood water has reached a staggering 4 meters high.

Our local adjusters have also learned that there is damage to commercial premises within the Sandomierz area as well as CAR claims related to road and bridge works. Our team will be heading to this area early next week. If we are able to be of any assistance, please contact any of the following:
