A cargo ship caught fire off the Dutch coast on Tuesday, and as of Friday, it is still burning. Crew members were evacuated with the help of helicopters and lifeboats Tuesday. According to the Dutch Coast Guard, it is still not safe to bring a salvage team onto the ship with the intensity of the blaze, but the situation is stable.

The cause of the fire is unclear, and the Panama Maritime Authority and the Netherlands are still investigating.

The ship was traveling from Germany to Egypt carrying about 3,000 vehicles. Initial reports indicated that this included 25 electric vehicles, but updated information from a spokesperson from the company operating the cargo ship, K Line, indicates that there were nearly 500 electric vehicles on board.
